1=8522">Link 8. Soldier Why it's everlasting : Even if world peace were a reality, there would still be a fear of future wars based on history. What it pays : The basic pay for enlisted personnel is an annual income of $14,137. The position also includes paid housing, food allowances, healthcare at little to no cost for the soldier and their family, extended vacation/leave, education stipends and additional incentives. Yes, I have job security (although take a look at the pa...
If I had been smarter, or shrewder, I would have been able to swing a title like "Live, from greywar's!" and even snuck that in before his blog self-destructed... but I decided to wait for crappy Sprint Military DSL in the barracks. feh.
10*wt(kg) + 6.25*Ht(cm) - 5*Age(yrs) + 5 = resting energy expenditure (male) 10*wt(kg) + 6.25*Ht(cm) - 5*Age(yrs) -161 = resting energy expenditure (female) This is how many calories you burn by doing *nothing*. Multiply that amount by an "activity factor" based on how active you are during the day: 1.3=sedentary 1.4=walking/standing, no exercise 1.5=exercise 1.6=walking&exercise 1.8=heavy lifting&exercise That gives you how many calories you need to take in to maintain your ...
I have always had a strong sense of conscience, a sense of right vs. wrong. Not Jiminy Cricket strong, not a loud annoying voice, but a knowledge ingrained on me by my religious upbringing. For whatever reason, it has gotten stronger of late. And I'm not talking about "not doing the wrong thing" but in fact "doing the right thing," avoiding erring by inaction. Just the feeling, as I've felt the tug and altogether ignored it so often that it's bothering me. It led me to this quest...
Logging into Yahoo! to see what movies the boys might like to go see, an article caught my eye: Son sues over Katrina wheelchair death . He 'accuses numerous state agencies and the city of New Orleans of gross negligence and willful misconduct in the death of his mother' because 'he was ordered by New Orleans police to seek shelter at the city's convention center, even though no aid was available and there was no way out'. His attorney's assertion is that the storm did not kill her, but ...
That's the name of a store here in the bustling metropolis of San Angelo, TX. And it's run by some of the hippiest hippies I've seen in awhile. I don't really mean that in a derogatory way, not really. They remind me of some of my friends from high school, actually. The owner is normal enough, although very enthuasiastic about having a new customer. His wife (?) was at the register and his two kids were messing around in the back. The two guys who put my sandwich together were prett...
It's like Chuck E. Cheese, but without the giant rat merchandising. First, we gorged ourselves on pizza... okay, I gorged myself on pizza, they had a moderate amount. Then, we headed to the game room. 100 tokens for $20, and we had a random one left over from last time. pseudo jr runs off immediately after I hand him a cup with 20 tokens and by the time I catch up with him he's already bored with the bulldozer game. akulaboy plays that for awhile, and I become convinced it's out of...

This is the first TV series disc I've gotten from NetFlix and it was quite the choice, too. I've watched all four episodes on the disc and it has left me wanting more. Not only do you have the whole draw that reality TV seems to have for so many of us, but the actual content really speaks to me. Now, I don't get to go around slugging it out with other guys, but I do have occasion to push myself physically, and that's what this show and mixed martial arts is all about. I had seen most ...

Posted on the Central Texas College Distance Learning site: Mon, Jul 24, 2006 -- Email Issues We have discovered an issue that may block our email server from transfering messages to some military accounts and servers. The issue is being repaired currently and email traffic to all military sites should be reset by Wed. 07/26/2006. Last week, at the reccomendation of the on-base fitness guru (a retired Army 1SG), I purchased a Polar F5 Heart Rate Monitor. They've gone a model or two ahead of this one, but it fit all my needs and more and it was on sale (previously $99, they had it at $69, about $75 after tax). This morning was the first time I wore it for a workout. (I tried it on last night and was wearing it around the apartment, so now I know what my "couch potato" heart rate and my "laundering clothes" heart ra...
CNN Headline News just did a pretty good piece about how a lot of Middle Eastern news networks can be slanted away from the Israeli side of any situation. This kind of preempts any article that I might have written about them using Al-Jazeera images and headlines without adding anything to them, giving the impression that their only source on those aspects of the stories was Al-Jazeera itself. Or, it at least shortens it up a bit, to just this note. (I also noticed yesterday that Fox N...
1 cup non-fat milk, 1/2 cup blackberries, 1/2 cup strawberry non-fat yogurt... one scoop chocolate flavored whey protein. Blend. Blagh. On the bright side, my balance was a little better today. I think I need to get some snacking vegetables or some cans of V8 for an afternoon snack, because I only got one serving of vegetables again today (2 yesterday, 0 the day before). And I had been doing so well with the salads over the weekend, too... Oh, the can-of-tuna-on-what would've-otherw...
I've been keeping track of my diet for two days now, although I've been trying to be extra good since I got back on Friday. The Air Force diet tech gave me an outline of what I "should" eat: I'm heavy enough right now to have 2200 calories per day and still lose about 2lb/week (especially with my increased PT which kicks off this week). A big mistake I've already made is that I did not have enough calories during the day yesterday. It wasn't just the depression that drove me to the Stove...
