Daily chow update

1 cup non-fat milk, 1/2 cup blackberries, 1/2 cup strawberry non-fat yogurt... one scoop chocolate flavored whey protein. Blend.

Blagh.

On the bright side, my balance was a little better today. I think I need to get some snacking vegetables or some cans of V8 for an afternoon snack, because I only got one serving of vegetables again today (2 yesterday, 0 the day before). And I had been doing so well with the salads over the weekend, too... Oh, the can-of-tuna-on-what would've-otherwise-just-been-a-salad worked out pretty well... I even cut down on the amount of dressing I used with it (olive oil vinagrette).

Calories were still low today, although (exactly) 200 more than yesterday. Fat was lower (due to skipping the fish and chips), protein was way up (almost double) and the other bits (carbs and fiber) were roughly the same. Need to find a way to bump up the calories again, without adding too many carbs... I'm about 600(!) low.

It was ickky because you had too many flavors in there, Miah.  You had the berries fighting with the strawberry yoghurt fighting with the chocolate.  Dave does the same thing: puts a bunch of things that taste good alone into a blender and then wonders why the result doesn't taste too nice.

Next time, try some strawberries instead of blackberries.  The strawberry/chocolate combo might be ok.  You could also try some banana slices with vanilla yoghurt and 2% milk rather than non-fat.  That might work too.

I've tried that chocolate flavored whey stuff before, and it made me gag.  It's nasty.  Have you thought about trying some Muscle Milk instead?

Hey, you're talking to me!

Yeah, the chocolate stuff is pretty bad. If it could somehow dissolve more completely in milk it'd be fine. I also picked up a container of vanilla whey protein, so that's an option, too.

I guess I'll try strawberries next time (maybe with the vanilla), but they didn't have Driscoll strawberries (my favorite brand) at the commissary. They also didn't have vanilla frozen yogurt, just strawberry or strawberry banana. I have also considered tossing in a banana for bulk...

I haven't tried any other protein supplements besides bars. I'm going to keep tweaking the diet until I get a balance of things. 2% milk probably isn't a bad idea since I'm not getting a whole lot of extra fat and I need to up my caloric intake...
