Been awhile since I've posted one of these, but I'm almost caught up on these. I'm actually going to take the first unit test tomorrow, to ensure that I have 25% of the classwork done before the end date (18JUN04) so I can get my incomplete, and the extra 120 days to finish the coursework. Here's Chapter 3, The Constitution: Limiting Governmental Power. Multiple Choice: 1. Constitutionalism means that: a. elected officials are not allowed to exercise power. b. those who exercise g...

Link The BDUs are going out, and the ACUs (Army Combat Uniform) is incoming. Head nod to Smash Link , and thanks for the birthday greetings. Personally... I don't really like it, although that may be the whole resistance-to-change feelings. I didn't (and still don't, to an extent) like the "new" PT gear, either. Addressing some of the comments already made on Smash's blog, however, and some of my own observations: I don't think the velcro and zippers will hold up as well as ...

While it wouldn't seem so based on how much time I've spent on JU, I've been away from home for about a month-and-a-half now. I returned this past weekend, tho, to some (IMO) well-deserved leave, but I know that it's a working vacation. The American Government class that I've been taking self-paced and online ends this Friday. The instructor has agreed to give me an "Incomplete" for my grade, and I'll have 120 days to make up the missed work. Incidentally, this is actually longer than the...

SGT Monobrow, one of the Brits (who shall be referred to with their Arabic names, in this case, Nora) and I headed on out this past weekend, blissfully unaware of the specifics of a top news story. We were headed... for Savannah. I lost count of how many times we were asked, "So, are you here for G8?" the past two weekends. Only once did it make sense in context; a waitress asked, "Are you here for G8, or in spite of it?" There is a bit of ill feelings from locals over the whole thing, as...

From the Army Times, 31MAY04, page 5: Army Admits Re-Up Orders Were False Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., said he is pleased with the response he received from the Army on May 20 regarding the re-enlistment of Army veterans under false orders. The Army agreed to revoke the orders of any individual who believes he signed up under false pretenses, according [sic] a release from DeFazio's office. DeFazio said in early May that members of the Individual Ready Reserve were told they ha...

Leonard is always going to be one of the Cowherd twins. He's always going to be my friend Colby's little brother. He's always going to have been a member of my Boy Scout troop. But now he's something else to me. Leonard Cowherd was killed in Karbala, Iraq on 16 May 04. He was leading his Armor platoon in securing a building when they received sniper and RPG fire. This newfound and very personal experience has intensified my appreciation for the work that my fellow service members do...

They really like that definition of politics in this book... Okay, here's the multiple choice and true/false, and the essay questions. As Greywar and Estrogen Lass (amongst others) would tell you, I have been slacking at this blog bit. While there are numerous excuses I could espouse, I'll just let you know how it is. It's never been about me being stupid; it's all about the sloth, folks. (I actually have a rabid fear/allergic reaction to being called/thought of as stupid. While I can't stop you from thinking it, I'd prefer if you didn't bring it up. okthx) This actually feeds right into my next point: how to take two...

pseudosoldier (real name classified: uninteresting) is a failed ROTC cadet. Approached by the military, he was enrolled in a secret government eugenics project located in the basement of the NSA (next to the alien autopsy room and down the hall from the telepathic listening stations for interstellar communications). Graduating from this program (among others), pseudosoldier now serves his country in the United States Army.
