I lost it
Published on January 9, 2006 By pseudosoldier In Marital Issues
This afternoon, as I bagged raked leaves in the backyard, I felt my ring slip off my finger. I'm not certain that's when it happened, though... I had been thinking it could happen earlier. Just... I looked down right then, in a panic, sure it was gone. And it was.

I spent over 20 minutes sifting through the leaves from that bag. That's more time than bagging three sackfuls in the first place. I didn't get through all the foliage before darkness descended and I had to give up... for today.

Tomorrow, I hope I have enough sunlight after work.

Of course, it's not the $100 I spent on it; it's a simple, small band of gold that we got at JCPenney's. But...

Well, you know.

Is this like the preacher who forgot where he left his bicycle until he preached a sermon on adultery, and then remembered where he parked it?

Seriously, I hope you find it. Sentimental value and all that rubbish.

Lost my Class ring Chopping wood one winter day.  And yea, I guess we do know.  Do you have a metal detector, or know someone who does have one?

I don't know. Maybe if things start going well, I'll find the ring?

Have you enlisted your wife's assistance in the matter?

"Maybe it will turn up." I'm not sure if I'm going to have any daylight left tonight when I get home. Honestly, if we wind up going to get a new one together (or a new set for the both of us, even), that would be great, too.

Wow, that is too bad. I really hope you find it.
I was devastated when I went swimming in a lake once and I thought my ring had fallen off in the water. Luckily my wife was on the shore and found it wrapped up in my beach towel. Ten minutes of loss is tough...
It might be all that weight you've lost recently. Perhaps you should get it resized when/if you find it.

That's a nice idea, too. Make a romantic thing out of this.

The weight loss was a factor, but my hands shrink up in even a little bit of cold. Also, I have a terrible fever/flu right now, and dehydration played a factor, I'm sure.

What were you doing raking leaves with a fever/flu?! Maybe it was a higher power telling you "hey, dumbass, go to bed!"

Hope you guys are able to find it and hope you are feeling better. Sleep and hydrate!

I crashed this past evening pretty hard. Near delirious, I think, pounding headache. I'm marginally better now.

Don't they have those cheap ones at the Walmart in cove for 'bout 30 bucks? Might be worth it. Get to feeling better.

And how much weight have you lost, btw?

September 7th (the day of my promotion board), I was sitting at 232 lb. My Class A uniform was too tight, and it was commented on. Due to stress in the following month, I dropped to (and maintained near) 215 lb. I actually fluctuate between 210 and 220 on a daily basis, and I just need to find the right time to drop myself down into the 200-210 range, and beat my lowest Army weight ever (208, when I was weighed in at DLI after Basic).
