I talked to her tonight, and...

I'm going to reenlist, possibly this week, maybe early January. It may depend on what the bonuses look like. It will depend on when the re-up NCO is available.

Four years should max my bonus at $15k. GAFB, AIT instructor, which should nearly guarantee me SFC (E-7) within three years (as long as I get my records update, but I think Geezer can help me with that procedure). Things look very good for me professionally, and I'm excited about that. SFC Spadde will be ecstatic, but I'm going to do (most of) what I told him today: talk to retention, talk to my branch manager, talk to the 1SG about a Declination of Continued Service Statement (that'll be a hoot!).

(DCSS is required when you come down on orders and want to refuse them. It is tantamount to telling the Army in general and your command in particular that you don't want to play any more. You can't reenlist on Dec, they probably will shit on you when you Dec because it'll be seen as a personal insult, they'll question the legitimacy of your lineage when you Dec... It's basically the polar opposite of reenlisting.)

I'd say the chances of me reenlisting jumped from 95% to 99.9%. There's always a chance I'll find out something tomorrow that will change it... but then I'd have to explain myself tomorrow night.

heh

Good luck in whatever you decide. I think you'd be a great instructor.

Thank you. I've heard variations on that from a number of people since I came down on orders. "The schoolhouse needs NCOs like you" was a nice one, too.

What a coincidence. I may be reenlisting Saturday.

Maybe you could be an instructor in Monterey? Now if I failed my audition and went back there to learn Arabic and got you, that would be just too wierd for words. Good luck.

I think that you're an asset to the military and I'm glad to hear you might be re-upping.

If you get to GAFB with Geezer there's a good possibility you might end up actually meeting D some day....

If you go to Goodfellow, wanna house?

If you're happy, I'm happy.

I had considered it, and I may still talk to NBS about it, but I don't think it's right for what I need right now. (I want to talk to NBS, anyway, to see how you two are. It was nice meeting you in person on Sunday.)

If you're happy, I'm happy.

I understand what you're saying, and I hope to be able to make you happy.

I hope to be able to make you happy.

Don't do it just for Tal, please!

Thanks for the update by phone. When I saw the article I knew what it was about before I clicked. I am excited for you and I think you will be a real asset to the school. Back in the day, I wanted to be a Charlie instructor and return to GAFB.

I am very proud to have you for a friend. You are an example to me. Glad you're getting glimmers of your potential.

And don't drink the water! No, really! Get the bottled stuff.

The water here is better than on Hood! (Not saying much I know)
