I'm not sure from which blog I stumbled upon his, but later I saw mention of it on some Iraqis' blogs. The man, CBFTW Link, is an Army Infantry soldier currently deployed to Iraq. He seems to have pretty consistent internet access from a nearby internet cafe that charges $2/hour. He reads a lot, when not on OPs (a term he explains a couple of times for his less initiated readers), and he has a good narrative style. His grammar and punctuation are shit, but I can forgive a combat soldier a few things for risking their life for me.
Go give him a read.

Excerpt from 25JUL04, Thanks, But No Thanks:

Conversation with my recruiter:
Recruiter: Since your only enlisting for two years you probably wont be deployed anywhere which is good.
Me: But, I want to be deployed.
Recruiter: Oh, well, umm, I meant ummm, Afghanistan, you probably wont go to Afghanistan. You never know, now with this whole Global War on Terrorism thing, we're sending troops all over. In fact the way the world is now, I can almost guarantee you that in your two years in the Army, you'll be deployed somewhere, probably Iraq or something. In fact I'm pretty sure you'll be deployed somewhere.

I hope we can look out for him and all the others over there...
