Is this the Arab/Muslim presence that some have called for?

From AlJazeeraLink : Jordan has pledged to send troops to Iraq if the interim Iraqi government makes a request.

I recall comments to articles on this site that would regard Arab and Islamic countries involvement in the policing of Iraq as somewhat "more appropriate" than American or Nato involvement. I wonder if this would satisfy them.
Personally, I'm a bit enamored of the King (It's Good To Be Him), so I suppose I'm biased. (I wonder how much of this was due to my Lead Arabic Instructor being Jordanian, and how much it was due to how much of a badass the king seems to be.)

Other takes on this are hereLink, hereLink, and hereLink. Okay, that last one is a little old, but you have to admit it is another take on the issue...

I was acquainted with several Jordanians in college. They seemed very much like the Saudi students in demeanor and personality; somewhat western, but solidly Arab. There was a Jordanian prince there for a while when I was there. Seemed pretty nice.

Anyone know what the Iraqi man-on-the-street thinks of Jordan? Or how the Shiite or Kurds feel about them? Might be hairy if it caused more conflict or just made more targets for insurgents. I don't know what Jordan's history with Iraq is. Will have to read up on it.

While Jordan has said that it would be very hard for them to refuse to send troops if asked, they have strongly suggested that they would prefer to support he Iraqi government in other ways. Still such a strong indication of support for the Iraqi interim government from arab neighbours is definitely a good thing.
