This year is the first year I'm going to send out Christmas cards... if I actually go get any to send out, that is. Apparently, WalMart doesn't carry anything but single cards, and that's a pain buying a bunch of those. I mean, I don't have to get a lot; I'm only sending to female friends and married male friends whose wives are also my friends. This is further limited by the fact that I have to have their address already... I need less than a dozen (since I'm excluding my family; they're mostly going to see me in about a week anyway).

What I want is a box set of about a dozen Christmas cards, in a variety. Four of the female friends I'm sending to are two pairs of roommates who also happen to be in the same unit. That means I need four different cards (I could squeeze by with three, maybe). Then there's the personalized note part.

See, this is the crap that made me never send cards before.

Oh, and the thought of hand-made personalized Christmas cards was considered, but it's out; I can't draw well enough and I'm not seven years old.

Go look back where all the Christmas decorations are not in the "hallmark" aisles with birthday cards etc. You should be able to find boxes of cards back there.

The spot in the store that had Christmas decorations around the time of Halloween and Thanksgiving no longer has Christmas decorations. It's crazy, they're not just starting the season earlier, but it's over earlier, too.

I never send out cards - I believe they are a monumental waste of good wood! Think about how much paper waste is generated at Christmas alone.

A phone call filled with well wishers is just as good and more personal.

If you really want to send cards - send e cards..... save on the waste and "save a tree" - breath some cleaner oxygen!

I'm heading to the mall shortly. There's a chintzy temporary Christmas store in there. But I'll check a dollar store or two if that doesn't pan out...

Thanks to both of you.

If you didn't find any at the mall, cause I had trouble finding them too, and there's a TJ Maxx near you, (or a Marshall's) they have some really nice boxed set really nicely priced too! You can also try a Target. I don't remember where you are now, but hopefully you can get some!

Just make a Christmas blog post and be done with it. Men just aren't made for this task.

P.S. This post has nothing to do with recycling or flame wars. It was and is about Christmas cards and Pseudo's problems with said cards.

Against my nature, I have purchased Christmas cards. I only plan to send out seven, but I have only filled out three. I have addressed NONE of the envelopes, and they certainly aren't in the mail. This has taken me three days.

*sigh*

Oh, update on that. The box that my mother sent to me last month, that was not returned to sender... has actually been sitting at my local post office.
