Yesterday, I started my new class of students. It's a different group of knuckleheads, but it's the same sort of knuckelheadedness I'm coming to expect. No, that's not a bad thing, it's just that young soldiers tend to be knuckleheads.

After class, I pulled duty... all... night... long. I was very glad that nothing major came up, and was almost equally glad that minor things did keep coming up. I could make forward progress or even actually solve problems (!) without being too overwhelmed. There was some weather in the area which even iced over my car (and some roads, temporarily). But this morning was the coolest.

It snowed! As much as I think it could possibly snow in west Texas, anyway. Add to that the fact that Texas is directly on top of Hell, and you'll realize that it wasn't going to stick, but it was darn cool driving home in a snow flurry (although it was slightly less cool since I was driving home after being up for 29 hours straight).

It slays me that the Marines have figured out that sleep is a necessity for "the Commander's representative on the ground" and puts a bunk right by the CQ desk but that the Army still loves needless saftey violations by keeping you up all night.

Ouch, that's what we call "walking on your eyelash"! Hope you managed to get some sleep!
