In the THQ game, Scooby-Doo Night of 100 Frights, there seems to be an easter egg that I hadn't encountered before... because there's basically a 1 in 365 chance of seeing it.

On November 5th, Guy Fawkes Day, fireworks can be seen and heard in the night sky as Scooby-Doo searches for Scooby Snacks and tries to solve mysteries. It's constant, so it's minorly distracting... it triples the normal amount of noise put out by the game while my kids are playing it.

Still, it's nice to find something new about the game... there isn't a lot of documentation online for kids' games.

How odd that they would pick this particular holiday....heh, I wasn't even aware it existed until you mentioned it.

bonfire night, the noisiest holiday of the year .

Ahh yes, Guy Fawkes night, aka Bonfire night.  I LOVED that particular holiday when I was a kid.  Dad would buy a bumper pack of fireworks and we'd stand at the bottom of the garden, past the compost heap and the chicken run, shooting off bottle rockets and making letters and numbers in the air with the sparklers that came with the pack.

Just because it came to mind, here's the rhyme that we were taught as kids about Guy Fawkes:

'Remember, remember the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.'

Having looked up some info on Mr. Fawkes, I find that the full rhyme gets quite a bit anti-Catholic at the end but I suppose that's understandable given the political backdrop of the original Gunpowder Plot.

The whole discussion (not just with you lot) has stretched over the course of the day... it rather smacks of holisticism, or at least coincidence.

A penny loaf to feed the Pope. A farthing o' cheese to choke him. A pint of beer to rinse it down. A faggot of sticks to burn him. Burn him in a tub of tar. Burn him like a blazing star. Burn his body from his head. Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead. Hip hip hoorah! Hip hip hoorah!
What do you mean anit-catholic?...............

Nah, I don't believe in any anti-catholic sentiment to it at all. . . I mean, doesn't the rest of the world still burn the pope in effigy like parts of the UK on the 5th of Nov?

That's the guy. Er, the Guy.

It's more of an Anti-Guy Fawkes Day, really.

That's odd. I knew about the 5th of November just about around the time I learned about the months of the year. I think I was five.

... and that would be the difference between US and UK... funny, what one letter can do!
