Is there a better Category for this?
Like you guys don't even really consider non-electronic games as games...
Anyway, the newest set for Marvel HeroClix is titled Sinister as in "... Six" or "... Syndicate" but not "Mr. ..." Chock full of villains, probably my favorite part is that there are multiple members of the Thunderbolts included in the set, both from the original team (thank you Mr. Busiek) and the current run as well (under FabNic). The Thunderbolts themselves are full of villains-turned-good (and in some cases -turned-evil-again), so it's a great fit for this set.
I've only bought two boosters myself, but I've already noticed evidence of one of the major complaints: figure collation in cases or bricks of boosters. In one booster, I got a duplicate figure (E Swordsman) and in the other got another version of the same figure (R Swordsman). There are a lot of people who noticed the duplicates issue, and it seems to be tied into the sorting process that they used for Armor Wars. It's disappointment since Collateral Damage, the last DC HeroClix set, was so well sorted.
I was over at the Boy Scout's place last night, and wound up in a four-player multiplayer game, using 700 points of Sinister figures each. I had to borrow the entire team... but I got to use 5 Thunderbolts figures on the team, along with 7 other "good guys."
I got stomped, but it was good fun, and I gave a newer player some good pointers. The figures are good overall. The sculpts continue the trend of being great. The stats are pretty good: there's a fair number of low cost figures with Team Abilities, so Wildcard figures might get a little boost (at least in Restricted play). Damage values seem high, but the average Attack Values appear to be 9 while the average Defense Value looks to be about 17. That means that to hit, you need an 8 or better (on two dice, which is less than a 50% chance), but if you do hit you're really connecting there.
There's a good spread of useful figures in the set, although I really only got to see mostly Vets and Uniques in play last night. That's just the trend amongst the non-Old-Schoolers at our Venue. Those of us in the Old Guard (all moved on, now) would stick to 2 figures/100 points, but they'll even occassionally run less figures than they have actions available...
It was a good time and I got to hang with a couple of good friends. (We also played Munchkin last night, my first time. Good fun.)
