I'm SO proud of you, Mom.

I got to talk to my mother this past Sunday night... she wanted to talk to her boys, anyway, and the older one is always up for talking to his Gram. The younger one almost always screams, "No!" but then relents later, crying, when you act like you believed him.

She quit smoking about three months ago. It's not the first time, but it's the longest that she has gone without. She also started Weight Watchers two weeks ago, and has already lost 5lb. I am so proud of her. I've always been proud of her, and proud to be her son. I have always, and will always maintain that she is one of the best people in the world. But I'm just very happy to see her doing something for herself.
edit: I forgot to mention that she's begun walking in the evenings again! She got to do some walking on the beach this past weekend, too.

Incidentally, my father is starting on the nicotine patch, and will be downgrading the dosage in a few weeks. He's been chewing nicotine gum for literal years now, but was never able to wean himself off of it. This is more structured, so he has a better chance of actually kicking the addiction. It was brought about by a shortage of Nicorette in the local area, but still... he has been provided the opportunity, and I gleefully await his success.

The boys and I also ordered flowers for Gram and for their Momma for this upcoming weekend. For all the mothers out there who I didn't get anything for, here's some well-wishing: God bless you for what you do for your children.

Happy Mother's Day.
