There and back, 170+ miles each way, today. And all I'm doing is setting up the apartment, signing the lease.

Ah, well.

Looks like I might be outprocessing next week as well (on leave, probably), and moving my things after my report date. I need to see about PTDY.

Don't sign out until you are done with all of your out-processing!
Once you go to final out then you can sign out on leave. Save your leave days for actual leave.

I'm certain that I explicitly told the apartment manager that I would be there at 1pm to sign the lease.

She was on lunch until 2, and didn't have the lease printed up.

Definite bright side: she's only charging me 1/2 the first month's rent, although my things may start accumulating there as early as this weekend. The 'deposit' (actually an up-front cleaning fee) was only $50, too. And there's a military clause...

NBS: If I didn't already know about the foundation, I might be interested. Hrm. Or if I wasn't moving there alone. ... I thought you had someone interested in it already? I was hoping that would work out for you...

That prospect decided he needed to rent out the houses he had already before buying another one, which I understand. We almost had to let it go twice in the last 4 months while Nbs was out and just getting back in. We do have a realtor working with it now, showing it as a prospective rental property, and expecting to get about 20K more than we paid for it 4 years ago. And since the rain and the cold weather, no sign of foundation problems either. As long as whoever buys it keeps it watered it will be fine.

Anyway, glad you found a place, and good luck with the move. You'll have to go visit Western Sky for me and have some of the Mexican Dr. Pepper with cane sugar that they have on tap. Man, I miss that place....

San Angelo, huh? Good luck to you, and don't drink the water. No, really. Get the bottled stuff.
I really did like San Angelo while I was there, but it's too far out in the middle of nowhere for me and the wife. I really wanted to come back to be an instructor at the Charlie school, but it just was not in the cards.
Happy moving day!
