and future prospects

SFC (BDE Retention) has fixed my ETS date. She also removed my flag that no one had bothered with, allowing me to go to the promotion board next Wednesday! If that had been in place, PSB might've kicked me out faster than SPC Dougie...

Mixed feelings on the board. I'm not too keen on that sort of performance, really. I hope I don't choke too badly. The promotion board will consist of:

Command Sergeant Major Somewhat - I've never seen him face-to-face, he has no idea who I am. He's new to the Battalion...

SFC C - My PSG. He'll be filling in for our 1SG who is on leave.

1SG (Person I Don't Know) - I don't know him, although he's a 1SG in my Battalion. *sigh*

SFC Calangelo - I have a deep respect for this man. It's a big part of why he scares me shitless. That and the fact that he could kill me without thinking about it twice. Or kill me twice without thinking about it (once). He likes me, he thinks I could be a good soldier (good God!), but I'm afraid I will disappoint him (again).

I'd better study up, eh?

And, sweet lord, when will I leave here? Will I re-up again? Woe be unto him who... is me, I guess. blah

EL here.....Greywar *never* logs out of this thing (not that I remember my password to JU anyhow), but you are going to do great on your promotion board. Dont stress it too much. Its just formalities and pomp and all that crap. If SGT Underage Drinking (.0163....that should tell you who I am talking about) can make it through the board (he just got promoted to SSG too) you will have no problems with it. You are a thousand times the soldier that he ever was or will be.  You will kick ass.

And SFC Calangelo....dont stress him either and of course he likes you and no you wont disappoint him. Take care and I miss you ; )

So... any updates? When do we get to hear the results?!?!
How did you do, how many points? How many anal cavity searches did you have to undergo?
And are you SERIOUSLY considering reenlisting? Silly man, remember how screwed you got (and still are) from your last reenlistment?

He was recommended, tho' I think it was a less pleasant experience than we had hoped for.
(I was his supervisor at the board even though I am not his boss)

Oh, I remember. It's included as a "lesson learned" whenever I extemporaneously "counsel" soldiers who are considering reenlisting (although it's "if you reenlist to leave, do so immediately" instead of "don't do it"). It's just that it may unscrew other things in my life right now, is all.

It's just an option I'm leaving open for myself. There are worse things.

You know what? I am. A month later, a terrible promotion board later, and I'm a better NCO and soldier than I have ever been.

Thanks for the post.
