From The Soldier's Comprehensive Study Manual, 10th Edition, page 31.8, Promotions and Reductions:

Q. The weapons qualification score (entered in Section A of DA Form 3355) must not be older than ________ months.
A. 24 (para 3-49a, AR 600-8-19)

(actually para 3-46a, AR 600-8-19; the study guide was wrong about that part, but not the other)

While I'm at it, from AR 600-8-19, section 3-49, a. (1), Civilian Education:

(1) College/university/business/trade schools. Points will be awarded using only the Soldier’s most current transcript
that includes the institution’s complete name and address. The transcript must be in the English language and show the
courses taken by title and, if applicable, include course number, (student copies are acceptable). Transcripts showing
block credit for military experience and training must be broken down into courses. Grade slips or reports may be used
provided they contain the institution’s complete mailing address and hours completed.
Business/Trade school completioncertificates may be used provided the total number of course hours are listed.

Bolding in the above text is mine.

Ummm...ooookay.

Is this like a "note to self"?

Hehe.

Well, at least now I know the AR for the time frame for the weapons qualification score in case it comes up in a dinner conversation or something.

It is so hard to actually get some folks to read those things eh?

Some folks... yeah.

In all fairness, it seems that the situation that arose which caused me to quote the second regulation was a miscommunication, and the individual involved actually did something (marginally) wrong (incorrect, not morally evil, mind you).

So, I retract about... one inch.
