or Banana Bread and Deviled Eggs
Published on May 4, 2006 By pseudosoldier In Cooking
Peeling hardboiled eggs is one of the most tedious activities I've faced in a long while... and I'm an occasional online gamer. *grind* *grind* *grind*

They turned out alright, these Damned things. They could stand just a smidge more mustard, and I could've used more filling in the first few eggs I filled. I had leftover filling... I can gauge it better next time.

The Banana Bread is baking now, but if it's as good as the uncooked batter I'm good.

Thanks go out to the two special ladies who sent me the recipes, and the other very special lady who offered to help (via phone, but still very generous).

I hate peeling those bastard things. I find that either the shells slide off almost whole or bits of egg come off with the pieces of shell.  There's no middle gound, either.  Either the whole batch has shells that come off easy, or...the whole batch is a pain in the ass.

I'm glad that your banana bread came out okay.

Oh, and may your burgers never be frozen.

(rofl)

Love the title. Your titles never fail to entertain.

Good luck with them eggs. They truly are a pain in the butt.

Holy cats, Dave!  You really wanted to get your point across, huh?!

Sounds like good advice, whip. The lady I got the recipe from said to peel, halve and de-yolk them after just running them under cold water, so the yolks would still be soft. But it took me so long to peel all of them (18 eggs) that the yolks were firm by the time I beat them with the hand mixer, anyway.

The eggs were fairly well received, but two of the instructors absolutely laid into the banana nut bread. I left the rest of it there when I came home...

after eating eggs for a very long time I have found the following way to remove eggshells from hardboiled eggs to never fail,

Place all eggs in center of dish, step back draw pistol, scream at them, get outta themn shells NOW!

Thats because the age of the eggs determines how easy (or hard) they are to peel!

I learned it the other way around. Just to be difficult.

What I was taught was if you're peeling them right away, the peel easier if they're as fresh as possible, preferably still warm from the chicken's butt when you drop them in the pot.........

mmmmmm.............

Let them cool (in the pan) at room temperature for at least an hour, and then refrigerate.

I had heard that the way to prevent green yolks is to transfer them quickly from boiling water to ice cold water.

I need to speak with my mother about this!

Last Thanksgiving I got a sliver of egg shell lodged under my fingernail. That hurt like a bitch.

I hate peeling eggs.

Glad your handiwork was well-received. Did you put the filling in with a icing tube (you know, making it all pretty shaped) or did you just spoon it in?

Just a spoon. I didn't get the icing tube in the divorce.

Perhaps pseudo could do an experiment and report back on the results!

I don't think I could get them "still warm from the chicken's butt", so I'll have to pass on the experiment. Besides, seriously, I'm not going to shell that many eggs again for a long while... especially when the banana nut bread was easier to make and generally better received.
