Everything went smoothly.. e-tool repainted, check. Gear laundered, check.

But they didn't take the Gortex, even though I had laundered it. "The cuffs dirty, I can't issue dirty like this!" Spray + Wash, sit, scrub with a washcloth... I can't get it any cleaner.

Going back for round 3... can't outprocess the unit until after CIF. May not be done until Monday now.

Other news: I have a moving van reserved. SPC Whitebread is going to help me out tomorrow and Saturday getting the bulk of my stuff in the new apartment. Everything is going to be okay....

Right?

I should be off work early enough to help unload, and SSG Hotchow might be able to help. I have a few other guys who would help if I asked. Call me and let me know.

I saw your title and knew exactly what this article was about. Been to the barn twice myself, in the 100+ degree heat of July...
It's incredible that they will issue you crap, knowing that it is crap... bu then you have to return all the crap with all the crappy elements taken away perfectly!

And... they wouldn't take my gortex. Twice, today. Three times total. So, fourth time I'm washing it.

And I now get to clear the unit on Monday.

Geezer: SPC Whitebread and SPC Gemstone are gonna help me load up after work tomorrow. We won't actually unload until Saturday morning, because I'll have to weigh the truck full that morning (at 0800 at Angelo Feed). We have to come back to the Hood right after we unload, too.

I'm looking forward to getting together for dinner and beers some evening.

Hey its EL here.....dont waste your time washing it. Thats just wasting your energy, some water and laundry crap. Just keep turning the stuff is "as-is". They will take it eventually.

Oh and another thing....if you are doing a DITY move, make sure you get your truck weighed in when you get there. Greywar could probably give you some more advice on that : )

And another thing....miss you!!

Thanks for chiming in EL! Miss you, too.

I'm weighing the truck here, empty, and there, full. I was told that it didn't matter where I weighed it as long as it was a certified scale. I should be good to go. I don't have a lot of stuff, but I should get ~$480 for just 1000lb (my estimated weight). I'll wind up spending a little over 1/2 that for the move. Even if I spent it all, I'd be okay about it, honestly. Not looking to put one over on the government, just want what I'm entitled to.

Otherwise, I'd pack the whole platoon in the back when I went to get it weighed full. I'm allowed 11K#!
